Turkish Airlines` new destination is Krakow
Unknown3/17/2014 06:42:00 PM 0 comments

Temel Kotil, CEO of Turkish Airlines said they won`t stop to improve flight network in the world. It seems they focussed on African market. The airline has planned 13 new destinations in Africa in 2014, including Mali, Guinea, Benin, Nigeria and Angola, according to Temel Kotil.
Beside new destinations to Africa and Asia, Turkish Airlines will also start flying to new cities in Europe, such as Krakow, La Coruna, Nantes, Pisa...
Of course Krakow flights will be so important people who has connection in Turkey. Because people who live in Krakow has to use transfer flights to other cities to reach Istanbul or any other city. Like Warsaw, Munchen or Wien. Even though prices will be little expensive than Lufthansa or other airline companies it will be very big comfort to fly directly. As you know, there is just to Warsaw flights as direct from Turkey. So this announcement made us very excited.
I also would like to give little information about Turkish Airlines. I am sure most of you hear more and more everyday this airline company name. Because of commercials, sponsorship and huge flight networkTurkish Airlines flies to 244 destinations in 105 countries across four continents which makes this company the biggest airline company in the world. As you know Turkish airlines has agreement with LOT Polish Airlines and tens of other notable airline companies as Star Alliance member.

Please check flight destinations from here.

Temel Kotil also added they order 262 new airplanes until 2021. This number is bigger than number of actual flying unit.

Stary Kleparz

After snowy days, I have found time to go center and discovered very nice market (bazaar) called Stary Kleparz. Historical market founded 12th century and still active as fresh food provider. Located 5 minutes away from Krakow Glowny and 2 minutes away from Barbakan castle.
If you hate packed supermarket products, want to taste cheese before buy, like village eggs, fresh meat Stary Kleparz is right place for you.
This open air market also has every kind of spices from all around the world, maybe best olives in Krakow and cheese directly from villages. There are many entrances to the market and first shops are mostly small cabins that sells spices, fishes, meat, clothes, flowers, bakery etc. In the middle there are stalls. Fresh vegetables and foods are mostly here.
We bought white cheese with black cumin(czarnuszka) and another 2 different type of cheese. One of my favourite is olives stall where you can find so many kind of olives, hummus, feta cheese. These products are mostly from Greece. We bought every kind. But to be honest one with almond makes addiction. :)
We bought village eggs. It is little expensive but taste is really different. Prices are 0,80 to 1 zl for one egg. We also bought some vegetables and fruits. I am sure during season they will have richer stalls.
Market is open until 15:00 but we were there around 12 on saturday some of shops were closing. So I recommend to go earlier. It opens everyday and it has really nice atmosphere that remind you old style of shopping. During spring I am planing to write new post about this place to show rich stands. :)
Address is ul.Krowoderska 22/5 31-142

Welcome to Kraków
Unknown1/19/2014 07:03:00 PM 0 comments

After 5 months in Gliwice and Śląsk. We moved to Kraków. New life, new house, new work and new city. We also entered new year in Kraków with our friends. We were planning to go to New Year party in Rynek. But we decided to stay at home and watch party on TVN. And when we heard alcohol was not allowed in party area I think it was good idea to stay in warm flat. Maybe our table was not so rich as much as you had but we were not hungry at end of the night. :) Friends brought also great food. Check and get one of these from her blog.

We didn`t have so much time for touristic action since we moved but on the other hand we were visiting Kraków often before. But we went to Krakowski Kumpir. People who lived in Istanbul should know meaning of it. Ortakoy Kumpir Waffle Bosphorus Nargile Cay Ayran. This combination was one of my favourite for weekend. Maybe there is no bosphorus but Krakow has Kumpir :) It is kind of take way restaurant. There is no indoor seats but few seats outside. Which is minus for me. Because kumpir is not sandwich. You need fork or spoon. It`s not easy to eat on the way. But at least there are bar desk and seats. There is around 10 different type of Kumpir which you can choose from their board. I have chosen Krakowski Kumpir which has almost every kind of salad. They have Gas drinks and Kefir which can replace for your Ayran :) You can also have some hot tea.
Taste is maybe not so similar what you had in Turkey. I think t needs little more butter and cheese. And i forgot to tell they offer butter with garlic. But we didnt want that way.
As I can see Kumpir is pretty new food. When we were eating people on the way was looking with curious eyes. For a country which potato is very important(Poland) I think there will be more places for Kumpir.
Krakowski Kumpir is at Hala Targowa. Address is ul.Gregorzecka 3. and it opens 24/7 !! Facebook

This weekend we went to a concert. Actually I was curious about venue. Because almost every nice shows I interested was in this venue called Kwadrat. It is located on student neighbourhood. But really good for concerts. Fair enough for mid-size concerts. This place was host for so many important bands like Napalm Death, Sick of it All
, Biohazard, Dillinger Escape Plan, New Model Army, Anti-Flag, August Burns Red, Swans, Nazareth, Nouvelle Vague and thousands more. And every wall you can see posters. I think I will visit this place often.
Our friends told us, there is aconcert of 2 polish bands maybe we would like to join to them. Name of the bands are Ampacity and Blindead. Blindead was headliner. They are playing stoner rock/metal and sludge with down to up tempo with scream and clean vocals. Ampacity was little amateur if you compare with Blindead but they had good tunes. Blindead is pretty old band . I think they started on 90s. And you feel experience on stage while they are playing. They have absolutely good drummer. All members were performing very well and and they were very active on stage. And this makes more fun in atmosphere. After they finished playlist as a tradition audience called them back to stage. After while they came and played 3 more long songs. There was also nice visual on stage wall for each song.
More information about bands, you can visit Ampacity website. and for Blindead youcan visit their Facebook page.
Entrance was 30 zl. Which is very reasonable price. Draft beer was 6 zl. Crowd was very nice. They enjoyed music. It was not packed. maybe 70% full. Show started on time and finished on time not lke in Turkey.
I can say we had nice evening. and hopefully I will continue to post udates about concerts and of course food. :)

Auschwitz-Birkenau
Unknown6/10/2012 10:32:00 PM 0 comments

I want to share my feelings and photos from our Auschwitz - Birkenau last year visit. I'm sure most of you read or watch movies about Nazi Death Camps and know it is one of biggest shame of humankind. I wont give you information about these camps. I just want to say it is "a must" to see.
It is so easy to go from Krakow. Just 1,5 hour with bus. Go to RDA - Regionalny Dworzec Autobusowy  (regional bus station) in Krakow, under the train station in Krakow Glowny and find buses which goes to Oświęcim. But you have to ask driver, where to get out from bus. Because you have to walk around 5-10 minutes to reach entrance of the museum. After buying your ticket which is not expensive, you have to wait for a guide. Its an obligation to have a guide with 15 people group. They are asking for your language and you get badge. This color of badge shows which language you speak and you are joining one group. There are 2 parts of camp and you are starting with Auschwitz then going to Birkenau with bus together.
I can honestly say this place is saddest darkest place i have ever been. Rooms, cells, prisoners beds, clothes, hair, shoes, letters... You feel like this holocaust just happened and they just left this camp. Most of the these things are in Auschwitz Camp. I mean Museum part is in Auschwitz. All items from camp days, room of luggages, shoes, clothes, wall of death, Nazi Soldier offices, gas rooms (there were also so many gas rooms in Birkenau but all of them demolished). We were there on August but weather was not sunny just grey. It made this trip more depressive.
In Birkenau a railway is welcoming you. Nazis made railway to carry prisoners. Birkenau is built in really huge area. There were hundreds of buildings but most of them are demolished. You can see ruins of gas rooms and other buildings where prisoners lived. You can see public toilet system and kitchen sytem in Birkenau. And there's also monument of holocaust in Birkenau between demolished gas rooms.
When we were leaving from Birkenau. There was a camera filming an old guy who was survivor of this hell. And then he started to share stories with visitors. When he was talking with Armenian girl, they started to share their hates to Turkish people about Armenian Genocide... He was saying it was another biggest shame of humankind and big holocaust like Auschwitz.
Now I want to share photos which we took our trip. I am sure words are not enough to show emotions so maybe some of photos can help.

Arbeit Macht Frei

Drawings shows prisoners are entering from camp doors.

Nazi officers were living in Auschwitz with their families and Prisoners who live there were serving to them.

Map of cities where Jewish community has been gathered.

Beside millions of Jewish, 150.000 Polish, Gypsies and other  ethnic groups has been murdered here.

Nazis sent news to Jewish community who lives in Greece that "we are building a big  secured  Jewish  city where all Jewish people can live in peace". And Greek Jews sold what they have and got train tickets to Auschwitz.

Zyklon B gas.

First topview picture of both camps. If I am not wrong an American pilot took it

Glasses of prisoners.

Kitchen stuffs.

Soldiers took everything they have when they were getting out. And some of them wrote their names to find  their luggage easily after it.

their toilet system. They have to use it in limited time. and there were not channels at the beginning. Prisoners were  going this holes and clean it with bucket. Then they made channels with a Doctor's order.
