After snowy days, I have found time to go center and discovered very nice market (bazaar) called Stary Kleparz. Historical market founded 12th century and still active as fresh food provider. Located 5 minutes away from Krakow Glowny and 2 minutes away from Barbakan castle.
If you hate packed supermarket products, want to taste cheese before buy, like village eggs, fresh meat Stary Kleparz is right place for you.
This open air market also has every kind of spices from all around the world, maybe best olives in Krakow and cheese directly from villages. There are many entrances to the market and first shops are mostly small cabins that sells spices, fishes, meat, clothes, flowers, bakery etc. In the middle there are stalls. Fresh vegetables and foods are mostly here.
We bought white cheese with black cumin(czarnuszka) and another 2 different type of cheese. One of my favourite is olives stall where you can find so many kind of olives, hummus, feta cheese. These products are mostly from Greece. We bought every kind. But to be honest one with almond makes addiction. :)
We bought village eggs. It is little expensive but taste is really different. Prices are 0,80 to 1 zl for one egg. We also bought some vegetables and fruits. I am sure during season they will have richer stalls.
Market is open until 15:00 but we were there around 12 on saturday some of shops were closing. So I recommend to go earlier. It opens everyday and it has really nice atmosphere that remind you old style of shopping. During spring I am planing to write new post about this place to show rich stands. :)
Address is ul.Krowoderska 22/5 31-142
